This is one of those posts that I've been trying to write for a while now. Every time I start writing things just close up or shut down inside and I end up deleting the draft. This has happened over and over and over again and here I am today hoping I can finally get it all out.
A few updates are in order. Our regular raiding group is no longer raiding. Shortly following this, my right hand sort of...burnt out as a result of my SWTOR marathon over the holiday break. Well, in all honesty it was probably on its way out for a while and my gaming marathon just did the honours of pushing it over. So, what does this mean for me?
Well, as far as raiding goes I wasn't terribly disappointed or surprised. Patch 4.3 so far failed to hold me as I'd initially hoped it would and killing Deathwing wasn't on my must-do list either, sadly. I'd be lying if I said I had cared about Deathwing from the beginning of the expansion. Sad truth. Furthermore, my tank buddy's account of the fight did little to inspire me. Chipping away at Deathwing's toenail and having him meet doom seems somewhat...meh to me. So I've decided to just sit it out.
My hand is an entirely different story. I've been completely freaked out by it for the simple reason that a hurting muscle spells DOOM for a piano player. At the same time, I've been having so much fun in SWTOR that I simply don't want to stop. I've always hoped that I'd never have to make a choice between piano and my gaming hobby and I'm hellbent on keeping it this way. I've spent the last two weeks trying out new mice, changing desks, measuring chair heights etc.
In the hope of speeding up my hand's recovery, I'm staying off the mouse for as long as I can and limiting my game time to the weekends exclusively. With WoW being the way it has been for me, I think I'm ready to take a step back and spend some time elsewhere. When I picked up SWTOR, I felt like I hadn't had quite this much fun since levelling through Vanilla WoW. I'm sure it has plenty of flaws, bugs and imperfections just as any game does. So far though, its been really fun and I think its come at a good time for me when playing WoW began to feel more like a chore than fun.
So that's pretty much where I'm at. I don't intend to close up shop on this blog or gaming in WoW by any means. I'm hoping that my hand will recover fairly soon and I can get back to healing as usual. One of the things I absolutely love about gaming is blogging about it - and I've started my SWTOR blog equivalent. I'm really not sure where my gaming journey is headed, but you can be sure I'll be blogging about it! In the meantime, stay fashionable, unbeleafable and awesome! <3
